I’ve been searching for quite a while now for the most expensive wine out of British Columbia and it looks like I’ve found it with One Faith Winery. Keep in mind, there might be some vintages in a collection somewhere in the province that will fetch more than $200 per bottle, but for now this is the reigning champ. I thought we could go into why they’re charging so much, and the talented people behind the vision of One Faith Winery.

So what makes this wine so special? Well, the whole push with One Faith is that it’s a first growth wine and for collectors, that’s a pretty big deal. The vetted and skilled team behind the vineyard has crafted what is being called the very first First Growth/Grand Vin to be made in BC’s legendary Okanagan wine-making region.

One thing I love about this project is that there’s a BC born and raised visionary named Bill Lui behind the wine and he’s hand-picked the team behind the vintage. Bill built a successful medical supply business in his earlier years, but always with a goal to eventually get into the wine industry.

This wine is special in more than one way, however; every step of the production process has been carefully designed to yield the best possible end product. For instance, berries were hand-sorted and destemmed the moment they arrived at the winery, and were subsequently used to create numerous different fermentations according to the unique characteristics of a given berry lot. Red wine was fermented in new French oak barrels according to a custom-designed process in order to achieve the desired maceration. All of this fine attention to detail has led to wines with rich flavours and flawless oak integration.

For the true wine aficionado, One Faith Winery has created Club Faith – an exclusive organization with plenty of perks to offer. Members will be offered an allocation of each vintage ahead of time, will be invited to annual vintage release parties in Vancouver and Calgary, and will receive behind-the-scenes news and updates from the wine-makers themselves.
