One of my favorite places to relax and unwind with a local beer (sometimes wine) is without a doubt The Bengal Lounge which is located in the heart of The Empress Hotel. Victoria is known for its restaurants and lounges and this place comes highly recommended by yours truly. If you’ve ever entered this hotel you know that feeling of how it transports you back in time, and stepping into The Bengal Lounge takes it a step further.

This place draws its inspiration from Queen Victoria’s role as the Empress of India. The room is decorated in a colonial style and is well known for its authentic curry buffet and signature cocktail menu. If you asked me what to get, I’d tell you with a smile, the braised short rib poutine and a lovely local beer.

Make it here on a Friday or Saturday after 8pm and you will be chilled out to the smooth jazzy sounds of the Chris Millington Trio.
