The reclaimed wood furniture trend has certainly seen even more growth in 2014 and here in British Columbia there’s a lot of local talent. I’ve been a fan of the Vancouver based Union Wood Co’s work for quite some time and thought you all might like what they’re up to these days. This company makes something for everyone including commercial and retail pieces.

We can also chalk up this eco-friendly and burgeoning industries success to a province that loves to buy local. So any other reclaimed wood companies out here don’t hesitate to give me a shout and lets show BC what you’ve got! In today’s case of “shut up an take my money” the Union Wood Co has got my full attention and they should have yours too.

Knowing where your product came from is always a perk during the buying experience and there’s no better company its their space that does this. Their journey is reflected in the final product and it has propelled their brand into the spotlight all over North America.

Their vintage design style is what gets me and I like to think their workshop plays a role in that. I love that they openly invite customers in to view the process and take away their own experience, something buying online just doesn’t provide. Don’t get me wrong though, they keep an online shop stocked full of goodies.

Originally setting up shop in a boarded-up warehouse space in East Vancouver, the increase in orders for reclaimed wood furniture forced a welcome change. In 2011 we moved into a dilapidated and defunct mechanic’s garage in the historic Railtown Design District, fittingly just steps from where the city of Vancouver was founded.
