Salt Spring Island Cheese Heaven

Some of the best cheese I’ve had anywhere in this province comes from the Salt Spring Island Cheese company. The first time I got my hands on their fresh cheese on location, I never had it so good. Since 1994 the cheese has been coming out of this small gulf island and you will find it in shops across the country, but nothing beats it right from the source.

The Road To Cheese Heaven

I however cannot get enough of their fresh soft goat cheese known as Chèvre, especially the garlic and and white truffle flavours. I’m a big fan of unique cheese and that is what I always expect from their cheese. You will also find excellent feta, hard and surface ripened cheeses.

You can easily visit the farm on your way into town, barely a 10 minute drive from the ferry terminal once you dock. You can enjoy the farm by taking a walk around, meeting the animals or experiencing the cheesemaking process. You can of course get your hands on their amazing cheese right on the spot.
