19 Aug Ontario Says No To BC Wine
…….for now.
I caught this article by Gillian Steward over on The Star about how hard it is to get BC wine out in Ontario. According to them, things are a little complicated at the moment. I’ve always wondered why there wasn’t even a good location to buy wine online.
There are over 864 wineries in British Columbia sitting on more than 9800 acres of land which includes both wineries and independent growers. So far the 2012/13 years sales have reached over $203,895,991 in sales, so business is big and it could be a lot bigger in the near future. Sadly the most recent news I could find doesn’t favour in these provincial liquor laws easing off any time soon.
“Ontario doesn’t sell B.C. wine because liquor regulations don’t allow for it so as to protect the Ontario wine industry.”
I’d like to hear what you think about the current wine situation here in our province, especially if you work for a winery. Please keep your comments thoughtful, critical and curse free.
