Skwachàys Lodge at 31 West Pender Opening

Another boutique luxury hotel is set to adorn the Downtown Vancouver core, but this one has a different flare. I’ve noticed this place the last time I was wandering around town but it was still getting worked on quite a bit. Six top notch local designers have teamed up with aboriginal artists and designers to create the 18 unique rooms which will feature original carvings, blankets and paintings.

As part of the building’s original renovation, the building already features a traditional northern longhouse with a 40.5-foot tall totem pole on its rooftop.

Each floor in the Skwachàys Lodge will also have its own animal spirit including the Raven, Eagle, Bear, Wolf and Orca. There is also talk of bespoke additions such as aboriginal carving, weaving, and painting in which you can take home with you after your stay.

The Skwachàys Lodge is scheduled to open in May 2014 and you prices will start at $225 for a night. I’ll definitely check this place out next time I’m in Vancouver. I really look forward to the opening and I wish them all the success in the world.
