03 Mar BC’s Growing Supercar Tourism Industry

I recently finished a coffee meeting with the gentleman you see above here in the picture. His name is Kristian Josok, and he runs a company called Exotic Car Vacations here in BC which does exactly as it sounds: arranges epic journeys through BC’s finest roads, paired with the finest luxury hotels and dining experiences. He’s been doing it for a few years now, and he’s just one of many supercar options here that allow petrol heads to do what they love the most.

While Kristian’s tours are the most unique supercar experience here in terms of travel and luxury, there are quite a few amazing options I thought I’d explore. This province is home to so many exotic cars that some say Metro Vancouver has the highest number of luxury vehicles per capita in North America. Exotic Car Vacations

While they do a few tours a year, the first one of 2015 is coming up rapidly here in May and it involves a three-day Whistler Weekend filled with excitement. As I mentioned before, their experiences include full board and this Whistler getaway has a home base at the ultra-luxurious Four Seasons Resort.

The weekend experience will also give drivers the opportunity to drive Duffy Lake Road as well as a few other hidden gems that only a few people know about. While there is absolutely no monkey business while driving on public roads, you’ll be able to go full-out at a private x-cross track day, along with a 2km runway for speed testing.

Scenic Rush

The Sea-to-Sky Highway is without a doubt one of BC’s most epically beautiful drives, so what better way to enjoy it than from behind the wheel of an exotic supercar? Enter Scenic Rush, which offers a unique Sea-to-Sky Experience that will put you in the driver’s seat from West Vancouver’s Eagle Harbour all the way up to beautiful Squamish.

During this trip, you will drive 4 separate supercars: a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Ferrari F430 Spider, an Audi R8, and – last but not least – either a Nissan GT-R or a Porsche 911 Turbo. How this works is that you take several stops along the way to Squamish, where you can not only stretch your legs and take photographs of the stunning scenery around you, but also swap into a new car at each stop, ensuring you get to drive all 4 at least once.

Luxury & Supercar Weekend

For petrol heads in BC, there is no bigger event each year than the annual Luxury & Supercar Weekend in Vancouver. Scheduled for the weekend of September 12th-13th later this year, this popular event gives attendees the opportunity to admire some of the most rare and valuable supercars on Earth, from revered carmakers such as Aston Martin, Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar, and more. The main car show is held on the Great Lawn of VanDusen Botanical Garden, offering not only gorgeous cars but gorgeous natural scenery as well!

Beyond automotive fun, the Luxury & Supercar Weekend also has numerous side-events including designer fashion shows, wine tastings, fine cuisine, and a whole lot more. There really is so much to do here that it’s almost hard to believe they can fit it all into just 2 days of non-stop fun.

Diamond Rally

The Luxury & Supercar Weekend isn’t just about admiring beautiful cars, however – it’s also about driving them! So, several months before the big Weekend, the organizers stage an invitation-only “Diamond Rally” from Vancouver to Whistler. This Rally gives supercar owners a chance to show off their rides and meet other like-minded auto aficionados, plus it helps build awareness of the Supercar Weekend itself.

Currently scheduled for Saturday, May 30th of this year, the Diamond Rally is a great way to usher in the sunny season and check out some gorgeous vehicles. If you yourself are a supercar owner, you can contact the Rally Director Nadia Iadisernia below to request an invitation; just remember to let her know what kind of car you have, as they only accept applicants with truly impressive vehicles.

Vancouver Car Club

At Vancouver Car Club, the name of the game is “fractional ownership”! What does this entail, exactly? Well, it’s sort of like how time-share works for luxury hotel rooms, except even better; you buy a “fractional interest” in the luxury car that you like most from their wide selection, and you are then entitled to drive it for a certain number of days per year based on how much of it you own… And we do mean “own”! You are technically a part-owner of the vehicle once you buy in.

Best of all, Vancouver Car Club takes care of storing and maintaining the vehicles when its members aren’t using them, plus if you decide not to drive your car for your allotted number of days in a year, they will even market and manage the rental of it on your behalf. When it comes to getting in on the ground floor of the luxury supercar experience, this is one of Vancouver’s most accessible options.
