16 Nov Fairmont Empress Skating Rink Almost Ready

Ever since Nat and Flora Bosa took over the Fairmont Empress this past year they have proposed a few changes and ideas to the iconic Victoria hotel. One of those great ideas being the public skating rink that has been built right on the front lawn overlooking the inner harbour. While you can see from the above picture what the Empress skating rink look like a few weeks ago, the below picture from Instagram shows us all what we’re in for. Christine and I will be coming down for the opening day and while I expect a long wait, I don’t mind considering the surrounding area.

The skating rink bill be operating from the 20th of November until mid-January/2015. The hours of operation include 5pm-9pm on weekdays, and will be open on weekends from 1pm until 9pm. Pricing is quite fare and is $10 per person, $5 for children aged 10 and under and rentals are available at $5 per pair of skates.

Of course the Fairmont Empress wouldn’t stop at just the skating rink, but also have put together a couple of “stay n play” packages for hotel guests. For those that do know, the Empress is definitely a place that puts off that holiday magic both inside and out. It’s a great place to spend for a day or three even if you’re a local!
